What is gopher?

Gopher is a free browser extension that helps travelers save money on ANY hotel! Gopher pops up when you're viewing a hotel on major hotel search sites and shows you how to book a better deal via the hotel's official site through lower room rates, cash back, or both! And since you're booking on the hotel's official site, you'll receive a trusted reservation and any loyalty or direct booking benefits offered.

Where & when will Gopher pop up?

Once you find your desired hotel and room on a supported third-party travel site, a pop up will appear in the top right corner of your browser and show you his better deal.

Upon which third-party travel sites will Gopher pop up?

Gopher currently works with the largest travel sites and is working very hard to burrow its way to more third party travel sites all the time!

Which hotels does Gopher work with?

Instant Book Hotels: With one click, Gopher will take you to the hotel's official site using the same dates & search criteria. He’ll recap your savings as you go through the booking process and add cash back to your Gopher account as soon as you complete your booking.

All Other Hotels: Gopher can email you a link within 24 hours to book the better deal at the hotel’s official site.

Does Gopher work with bed & breakfasts & vacation rentals?

Not yet. Gopher only works with accommodation types that have their own individual website with booking functionality, and many of these do not. If they do, the Gopher will work with them.

Will Gopher pop up on a hotel site if I go there directly?

No, Gopher will only pop up when you start your search from a supported third-party site.

I no longer see a rate comparison - what happened?

Gopher needs to know what rate you saw on a third-party site to make a comparison. If you subsequently change your search on the hotel official site, Gopher won't know what the third party is showing. If the rate comparison is important for you, just re-run your third-party search.

Will I be eligible for the hotel's loyalty & direct booking benefits?

Yes. Since you will be booking directly with the hotel, you will be entitled to all direct booking benefits, including points & elite status qualification if applicable.

Why does Gopher only compare the lowest rates?

Any given hotel may have 10 or more rates & room types, and usually they are priced at fixed premiums to the lowest rate. So, by sharing a comparison of the lowest rates, Gopher usually tells you what you need to know - without having to share a confusing spreadsheet of comparisons!

Can I use Gopher on multiple computers?

Gopher can be installed on every single computer you own! There is no limit.

Does Gopher work on all browsers?

Currently, Gopher can be added to the Chrome or Safari browsers. Gopher is working very hard to burrow its way to more browsers. Please email Gopher at contact@joingopher.com with your suggestion on how we should prioritize.

Can I use this on my phone or tablet?

At the moment, browser extensions are not supported on mobile or tablet. We promise we'll notify you once they are!

Why does Gopher give cash back?

Gopher already finds great rate savings and adds extra cash back to make booking directly with the hotel even more attractive - guaranteed!

What are my redemption options?

Cash rewards may be redeemed via PayPal, Visa eGift card, for several different country-specific retailer gift cards, or towards thousands of charities. They're your cash rewards - so the choice is yours!

Will I be eligible for the hotel's loyalty & direct booking benefits?

Yes. Since you will be booking directly with the hotel, you will be entitled to all direct booking benefits, including points & elite status qualification if applicable.

Can I "double dip" with other third party cash back programs?

Unfortunately, if you use another cash back program, you will not be entitled to cash rewards from Gopher. Hopefully, since Gopher is usually much more generous, you won't need to choose anything else!

Why is my cash back pending and when will I receive it?

Your cash rewards are pending because your stay has either not been completed or validated by the hotel. Depending on the hotel, cash back is usually made available between one week and one month after your stay completes. If after 30 days you have not received your rewards, please forward a copy of your final folio/bill to rewards@joingopher.com. Credit card or bank statements will not be accepted.

Where can I see my cash back?

Cash rewards can be viewed at the top of your Gopher dashboard. You'll need to log in to view this.

I'm missing cash back

Uh oh! Gopher didn't intend for that to happen. If you utilized Gopher’s Instant Book functionality on your booking and don't see the booking in your account OR if your cash rewards are still pending after one month, please email contact@joingopher.com so we can help sort everything out!

How do I know if Gopher is working?

If the Gopher extension icon is in color, then you should be hearing from Gopher any second! If the Gopher extension icon is grayed out, then you are not on a supported site viewing the rates for a supported hotel.

That's not good! The Gopher extension may have been uninstalled by accident or needed to update. You can install Gopher again by clicking here. If your Gopher button keeps disappearing, then please send us an email at contact@joingopher.com. We want to make sure you're saving as much money as possible!

How do I remove Gopher?

Oh no! Gopher doesn't want to see you go. If you're removing Gopher because the extension isn't working, then please email us at contact@joingopher.com. We'd love to help make your experience better.

Chrome: Right click on the Gopher extension icon and click "Remove Chrome Extension"

How do I delete my account?
